The journal overview is the heart of Dreavie – this is where all your moments come together. Let's explore how to find your way around and get the most out of the overview.

Understanding the Basic Structure

The Main Elements

The Header
At the top you see:

  • The name of the current collection (e.g. "All Entries" or "Private")
  • The menu icon (three lines) for collection selection
  • The search (magnifying glass icon)

The Main Collection
This is where your journals live, intelligently organized:

  • Grouped by time periods (Today, Yesterday, This Week, etc.)
  • Newest entries at the top
  • Older entries load automatically when scrolling

The Floating Plus Button
Bottom right floats your gateway to new thoughts – always just a tap away.

Time-Based Organization

The Sections

Dreavie groups your journals automatically:

"Today"
Everything you wrote today. Perfect for quick daily review.

"Yesterday"
Yesterday's thoughts – close enough to remember, far enough for perspective.

"This Week"
The last 7 days at a glance. Here you can spot weekly patterns.

"Last Month"
Older entries, thematically grouped. Time brings clarity.

"Memory Lane"
A special feature: Dreavie shows you entries from today one year ago, two years ago... A time travel through your thoughts.

Understanding Journal Cards

What You See

Each journal entry is displayed as a card with:

The Date
Format: "Monday, January 15, 2024" – human readable, not just numbers.

The Title (if present)
Bold print so you quickly recognize what it was about.

The Text Preview
The first lines of your entry. Enough to spark the memory.

For longer entries, you can expand the preview without opening the entry.

The Collection Color
The colored strip on the left shows immediately which collection the entry belongs to.

Special Entry Types

Weekly Summaries
Recognizable by:

  • Special styling (often highlighted)
  • "Weekly Review" in the title
  • AI-generated content based on your week

Navigation and Actions

Opening an Entry

One tap is enough: Tap on a journal card and you're directly in the editor. Edit, add to, or just read through.

Quick Actions

Long Press:
Hold an entry longer to open a context menu:

  • Add tags
  • Move to another collection
  • Share
  • Delete

Swipe Actions (depending on settings):
Some users can delete or archive entries by swiping.

Pull-to-Refresh

The gesture: Pull the list down until the loading indicator appears.

When to use?

  • After writing on another device
  • When you feel something is missing
  • For the latest AI features or weekly summaries

Mastering Search

Opening Search

Tap the magnifying glass icon at the top right. The intelligent search opens.

What Search Can Do

Text Search:

  • Single words: "vacation"
  • Phrases: "beautiful day"
  • Partial words work too

Intelligent Search:

  • Questions: "What did I write about mom?"
  • Time periods: "Entries from last summer"
  • Feelings: "When was I happy?"

The Results:

  • Sorted by relevance
  • Shows context around the match
  • Color highlighting of search terms

Advanced Overview Features

The Streak Banner (Mobile)

At the top of the overview you see your streak:

  • How many days in a row you've written
  • Motivation to keep going
  • Disappears subtly when scrolling

Infinite Scrolling

How it works: Just keep scrolling – older entries load automatically.

Performance: Dreavie loads intelligently. Only visible entries are rendered, keeping everything smooth.

Collection Filtering

The active filter: At the top you always see which collection you're viewing.

Quick switch: Tap the collection name → Collection menu opens → Choose another collection.

The effect: Immediately you see only entries from the selected collection. Perfect for focused browsing.

Tips for Optimal Use

The Morning Routine

  1. Open Dreavie
  2. Check "Memory Lane" – what happened today a year ago?
  3. Scroll through "Yesterday" – any open thoughts?
  4. Create your first entry of the day

The Weekly Reflection

Every Sunday:

  1. Switch to "This Week"
  2. Scroll through all entries
  3. Recognize patterns and themes
  4. Write your own weekly reflection

Quick Finding

Use visual anchors:

  • Collection colors help with scanning
  • Meaningful titles save time
  • "Show more" for quick skimming

Solving Problems

"I can't find an entry"

  1. Check if you're in the right collection
  2. Use search with different terms
  3. Look in "All Entries"
  4. Perform pull-to-refresh

"The overview loads slowly"

  • Check internet connection
  • Clear app cache
  • Contact support

"Entries are mixed up"

  • Sorting is based on creation time, not edit time
  • Enter date manually in search
  • Contact support for persistent issues

The Overview as a Mirror

Over time, your journal overview becomes a mirror of your life:

  • Color patterns show your focus collections
  • Gaps tell stories too
  • The evolution of your titles shows personal growth
